The enrolment processes continue! For siblings of current students seeking entry at Loreto Normanhurst in either 2025 or 2026 who have not already submitted an Application Form, please contact the Enrolments Office as a matter of priority on enrolments@loretonh.nsw.edu.au to discuss.
As you are aware, this year we have commenced a review of our school uniform. Thank you to all of those in our Community who responded to the Uniform Review Survey in Term 2. Through this survey we were able to gain valuable input from a cross-section of just over 1800 students, parents, alumnae and staff to guide the next stage of the project. The input received has provided clarity on key areas of the Uniform Review Brief including:
We are pleased to announce that Jonathan Ward has been appointed as our partner to work with us on the Uniform Review. Jonathan is a prominent Australian school wear designer, who has successfully partnered with a broad range of schools for their uniform design projects. There will be ongoing consultation with focus groups across the community throughout the process and updates on progress will be shared when relevant. Any questions on this important project can be directed to the Deputy’s Office at deputyprincipal@loretonh.nsw.edu.au.
Support PAL's fundraising efforts for 2023 by purchasing a ticket in our Trivia Night Raffle! This is your chance to make a difference and win some incredible prizes whilst supporting our school community. The Raffle is open to all members of the Loreto Normanhurst community.
The funds raised from the event and this raffle will go towards much needed classroom upgrades and facilities projects such as the Oval Refurbishment which will enhance the education experience and opportunities for current and future Loreto Normanhurst students.
Loreto Normanhurst is committed to ongoing review and evaluation of all aspects of our learning community in order to best meet the needs of our students and families. Based on ongoing feedback we have received, we are currently evaluating the platforms and procedures relating to communication and would like to hear from our parents about how we can streamline and improve the communication experience with the School.
We would appreciate you completing this anonymous survey by 30 October if you have not already. The survey is expected to take no more than 10 minutes.

Once completed, the results of the survey will be analysed and will be used to determine priorities and actions for the improvement of our communication tools and landscape. More specifically, the results will help to guide the development of an upgraded Parent Portal, which is currently under evaluation.
Thank you in advance for your assistance in creating a better communication experience for our community.
Earlier this week, you would have received notification of our 2023 Christmas Bursary Appeal.
This year we are asking that you please consider a donation to support a student's tuition fees in 2024. Together, let's make a Loreto Normanhurst education a reality for girls in need.
We are thrilled to let you know that a family within our community has pledged to match every donation made up to $25,000, meaning that your gift will be doubled!
All donations over $2 are tax-deductible, and 100% of your donation goes directly to a student’s tuition fees for 2024. You can also purchase items below to support our cause.
There are many ways you can get involved:
Your generosity will transform lives and strengthen the bonds of our Loreto Normanhurst community. As we approach this festive season, may the joy of giving be your greatest gift, knowing that you are shaping a brighter future for a young woman in need.
During Conversation Time on Wednesday, Year 9 were involved in a Student Voice Feedback activity where they worked in Houses on four key questions.
The students were asked what they think ‘student voice’ is about and some of their feedback was ‘having a say’, ‘sharing ideas’, ‘being part of decisions’ and ‘being empowered’. We look forward to working closely with Year 9 on their ideas.
Last week students elected to House Councils and the Student Representative Council received their badges as part of a House ceremony. We look forward to following the progress of these leadership groups during the next 12 months.
Last Wednesday afternoon we received excellent feedback from prospective families about the Student Ambassadors who took prospective families on a tour of the campus. These days are excellent opportunities for the students to shine and share their experiences with others. We are always looking for students to join this team. Our final tour is on Wednesday, 15 November from 3:30pm to 4:45pm. This commitment will count towards next year's community service hours. If you think this is something that may interest your daughter, please ask her to get in touch with Mr Madigan.
A reminder to ensure that your daughter’s Student ID card is linked to your family’s Flexischools account. Students may not use their smart phones to pay for items at the Café or Canteen; phones will be confiscated, and a detention issued if they are used, as all phones must be in lockers from 8:20am. Students may also use a debit card to pay for items at the Café or Canteen too.
Next week the Captains of Creative Arts, Performing Arts and Music along with the House Leaders in these areas, will begin the Normo Fusion Program. This year’s theme is ‘Lights! Camera! Action!'
An initial brainstorming session will occur on Tuesday for interested students, followed by weekly rehearsals commencing in Week 5.
All students have received information about the program so do engage your daughter in conversation about it. It is all about having fun, being in House community and preparing for the Concert on Wednesday, 6 December in the gymnasium during House time.

The HSC Assessment Handbook for Year 12 2023/24 is now available. This handbook contains information about HSC students’ subjects and assessments. The HSC Assessment Handbook has been uploaded to the CANVAS Learning Page for students’ future reference.
A key aspect of our learning model at Loreto is the development of students as independent learners. We encourage all students to adopt a proactive approach to effectively manage their time and oversee their assessment schedule. Students can access necessary information on their assessments by referring to the HSC Assessment Handbook and viewing the internal Assessment Calendars. Please note that the indicative dates published in the handbook are a guide only and may be subject to change. Students will be notified of such changes via formal written notifications. We request that students populate their Student Handbooks and/or their Outlook calendar themselves, seeking guidance from their Tutor or teacher if required.
We hope that you and your daughter can have informed conversations together at home about your daughter's learning and approach towards her assessments. Please do not hesitate to contact the Learning Office if you have any questions.

In a world where change is the only constant, the ‘Future Problem Solving’ program offers students an invaluable opportunity to address current global issues and imagine solutions for a future 20-30 years from now. This year, with topics ranging from e-waste and robotic workplaces to our throw-away society, students delved into pressing challenges our world faces today.
Working individually or in teams, students embarked on a journey of deep exploration, unraveling widespread concerns tied to these themes. This platform not only stimulates their curiosity but also nurtures critical and creative thinking. Through intense brainstorming with peers, staff, and family, students refine their analytical capabilities and learn the art of problem-solving.
A remarkable standout this year was Julia Levay, Year 9, who soared to the National finals in Brisbane. Her commendable efforts placed her third in her category, a truly astounding accomplishment.
Meanwhile, on the international stage, our Year 10 team comprising Ruby Harrison, Olivia Kent, Emilyn Lu, and Sofia Palermo made Loreto Normanhurst and Australia proud at the International Competition held in Amherst, Massachusetts, USA. Their exceptional skills secured them 10th place globally and a triumphant first in Australia for their division.
As educators and supporters, witnessing these achievements reinforces the belief in the tremendous potential of the program. The upcoming ‘taster sessions’ for Year 6 and 7 students in Term 4 aim to ignite this passion in younger minds, equipping them with the necessary tools to partake in the ‘Future Problem Solving’ journey next year.
Let’s envision and create a better tomorrow, one problem at a time!
Congratulations to all students who participated in the IGSA Festival of Speech. It was a great event and was inspiring to hear the passionate voices of so many young women.
In particular a very big well done to Lexi Sam (Year 9) who placed 3rd in the Junior Readings section. We looking forward to hearing Lexi's readings at Assembly next week.
Thank you also to all staff who were involved in preparing the teams.
