Every year, all schools in Australia participate in the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD). The NCCD process requires schools to identify information already available in the school about supports provided to students with disability. These relate to legislative requirements under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 and the Disability Standards for Education 2005, in line with the NCCD guidelines (2019).
Information provided about students to the Australian Government for the NCCD includes:

The NCCD provides state and federal governments with the information they need to plan more broadly for the support of students with disability.
The NCCD will have no direct impact on your child and your child will not be involved in any testing process. The school will provide data to the Australian Government in such a way that no individual student will be able to be identified – the privacy and confidentiality of all students is ensured. All information is protected by privacy laws that regulate the collection, storage and disclosure of personal information. To find out more about these matters, please refer to the Australian Government’s Privacy Policy.
Further information about the NCCD can be found on the NCCD Portal.
If you have any questions about the NCCD, please contact the school.
The Australian Government Department of Education (the department) would like to advise all staff, parents and guardians that it will collect certain information about your school, its staff and student body as part of the 2023 Non-Government School Census collection (the Census).
The names of students and staff are not collected, apart from the name, position and contact details of the staff member nominated as the primary contact for the Census.

The Loreto Normanhurst Seeking Truth Seminars have successfully completed three years of engaging and thought-provoking discussions.
Throughout this time, our primary goal has been to offer topics that hold relevance in today's society, exploring the ever-evolving landscape of theology and its profound connections to various aspects of our lives, including the role of women in the church.
To further enhance our seeking truth seminars in 2024 we are eager to collect your feedback. Your valuable insights will play a crucial role in shaping future seminars, ensuring that we cater to your specific needs and interests. We kindly request a few minutes of your time to complete the following Loreto Normanhurst Seeking Truth Seminar Feedback Survey. By sharing your thoughts and suggestions, you will be making a substantial contribution towards improving the quality and impact of our Seeking Truth Seminars in 2024.
Your feedback is instrumental to us, and we genuinely value your perspective. Together, we can create seminars that provide even greater value and resonate more deeply with our diverse audience.
Thank you in advance for taking the time to participate in this survey.
In Term 2, all of the girls in Primary took part in our annual Public Speaking Competition. During the first week of the competition, we all performed our speeches to our classes. The teachers then selected 5 girls from each class to go into the Semi-Finals, based on their public speaking skills. In the Semi-Finals, the girls performed their speeches to all of the teachers and their entire grade. 12 girls moved onto the finals; 6 from Year 6 and 6 from Year 5.
This last stage was held in the Primary Learning Common at 6:30pm during Week 9. It was such an exciting evening! We were lucky enough to have 3 teachers from the high school listen and judge the amazing performances and have the honour of deciding the winner. All of the speakers did an amazing job presenting and writing their speeches under the topic of either happiness, opposition, progress or space.
Charlotte and I were lucky enough to come along on the night and see all of the wonderful speeches. It was a wonderful experience, not only for the girls performing but also for their parents and friends in the audience who were very proud. In between the speeches some students shared their talents by performing musical items and drama pieces. Whilst there were 3 winners, all the girls did an amazing job and should be very proud!
Congratulations to Sandy from 5S who was the overall winner!
On Friday, 16 June, we had a special visit from Mr William Boyle, whose daughter Lyla is in 5P. Mr Boyle and his colleague came to speak to all of Year 5 about what a surveyor does and uses in their daily work. In our Semester 1 History unit, we learned about the role of surveyors in the crossing of the Blue Mountains by Gregory Blaxland, William Charles Wentworth and William Lawson in 1813.
A surveyor is a person who maps, and they search around old, significant places. They can choose to search for old surveyor marks, then they mark them on a map, and later on they add them onto new maps that they make.
Mr Boyle brought some exciting surveying tools that we got to hold and pass around. He brought a measuring tape, a sharp marking material that he sticks into the ground, a flat coin, a sticker and a surveyor mark that they nail into concrete. Mr Boyle also brought in a laser pointer which automatically measures distances.
We enjoyed our information session and learnt a lot about the history of surveying.
Whilst most of the school was resting and recuperating over the winter break, our Snowsports team was lighting up the snow with some awesome performances at the Northern NSW Interschools Snowsports Championships. This year saw 6 students competing across snowboarding and skiing events across 4 divisions in Perisher during the middle week of the school holidays. The events include Alpine Giant Slalom, Ski Cross, Snowboard Giant Slalom and Snowboard Cross. The team was a great mix of girls from different year groups, who had range of experience in competitive snow racing and included girls who were representing Normo for the very first time! The entire squad performed magnificently, and a huge thanks goes out to the parent group who were fantastic at getting their daughters down to the snow, out on the mountain and cheering on their every turn and jump.
If this has piqued your interested in competing for Loreto Normanhurst in skiing or snowboarding, next year’s Northern NSW Interschools Snowsports Championships will be held in Thredbo in the mid-year break 2024! All are welcome to have a go – for more info, please contact the Sport Department.
