Year 7 students embraced their Traditioning Day at the end of their first full week at Loreto Normanhurst. This day is an important part of their introduction to life at Loreto and the many stories that make us who we are here.

They heard about our foundress, Mary Ward, and her companions, who envisioned an innovative, holistic education for all young women and who gifted us the Loreto values of Freedom, Justice, Verity, Sincerity and Felicity. In the library, Year 7 interacted with important artefacts from our Archives, which dated back to our foundation in 1897. They were introduced to the sacred space of our Chapel, and made the pilgrimage down to our Bush Cemetery where many important pioneering Loreto sisters are buried. Led by artist Sarah Fordham, they then added their unique creation to an ongoing group art project symbolising their contribution to their House community.

New students in Years 8-11 enjoyed a similar afternoon of discovery and the chance to explore the significant spaces in our grounds. All our new students are firmly part of our long and proud tradition and we know they will shape our community throughout their time as Normo girls.
